Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My wife was on Serax for 15 years. The doctor was giving her 7 15 mg tablets daily. She miscaluated the renewal date so my wife needed to go three days without any medication at all causing all of the withdrawal effects. Her behavior caused the doctor to discontinue services. Is the dosage more than recommended and is it allowed to have her go without it for three days. Help us, we are disabled diabetics and do not have any money. Cannot you give us an answer just this once?
The dose of Serax varies for different diseases. However, good care should be taken and the drug is only taken as advised by the doctor. Generally, the dose is from 15 to 30 mg a few times a day depending on the condition. High dose is not needed for long times. So her dose was proper if that controlled her symptoms though it can be increased if needed but not at all without your doctor prescription.
And yes if it is used for a long time, it should not be missed suddenly for days as that can cause severe withdrawal symptoms.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
