What Is The Importance Of A Test To Determine Plaque In Arteries?

Hi! I am a fifty year old white male, who is in shape, and is very athletic. I was wondering how important is it to get a test which would determine the level of dangerous plaque in my arteries vs only getting an EKG and stress test as I've done in the past. I currently am ideal weight but I eat alot of sugar, red meats and dairy products-and,for most of the day,am very sedentary.

It would not be a bad idea to get an Angiography done at this age, it would let you know the status of your coronary arteries and what to about it, if at all. But, you should realize that an Angiography is an invasive investigation and has complications in the form of bleeding, contrast reaction, etc. Also, the site they choose to do the Angiography from is at risk of complications. So you should go in for it fully aware of what all it entails before you sign the consent form. Take care.
