Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Mukesh Chugh's Response
Hi Thanks for writing The most likely infection in joint is staphylococcal aureus. Broad spectrum antibiotic may be started without waiting for the pus culture report. To assess the severity I would advice complete blood count along with CRP (C reactive protein) and ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate). Antibiotics like linezolid, clindamycin, imipenem have excellent result. Take care and I shall be glad to answer any further query.
