What Is The Latest, best Surgical Connective Device For Hammertoes?

What is the latest ,best surgical connective device for hammertoes ? My orthosurgeon says wire is just fine but I see there are many new connectors that seem wonderful and faster healing and less risk of infection. Also they do a better job re; pad movement, etc. I feel he is perhaps old school and not convinced that these latest developments are worth trying...I m very apprehensive trusting this surgeon.

Hammer toe deformity correction depends upon the flexibility of your toe joints. If your toe joints on the involved toe is flexible, then the deformity can be corrected by non surgical methods that may be able to straighten out your toe or toes and return them to their proper alignment. The non surgical methods include padding and taping, orthotics, change of foot wear, and medications. If your toe joints are stiff and immobile, then the best results can be obtained only by surgical correction of the involved toe.
