What Is The Life Expectancy For An Alcoholic And Diabetic Patient?
Hello My partner is a insulin dependant alcoholic 2 bottles of whiskey a day. I have tried every approach to stop the drinking to no avail he has numerous health issues but continues to drink he even wakes at night to have more alcohol. also he is on lots of pain killers 4 oxycontin a day 20mg 10 endone a day and panadol what is his life expectancy he has been like this for the past 8 years. i need to get through to him
Tricky to say. Several features. If someone has cancer or has been repeatedly hospitalized with liver disease and continues to drink, then they are reliably going to die and the life expectancy in each case is 3 to 5 years. If someone is a heavy drinker but does not have liver complications ... you cannot predict--it is the likelihood that something bad will happen out of the blue. Likewise if someone doesn't wear seatbelts or if someone is taking a near-overdose amount of antibiotics. In all of these cases we can say there is a 1% to 5% chance of something bad happening out of the blue and killing them, but that is not a life expectancy estimate
