Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Is The Life Expectancy Of A Person With 20% Working Heart And Diabetes?
I have a family member who had a bypass surgery in 2004 followed by a stroke in 2013. The bypass of 3 stents being put in which are completely blocked as to date. This past Friday he went in with chest pain and it was decided to put another stent in heart. I also learned that his heart is only working at 2t0%. what is the life expectancy of a individual with these conditions. He is 54 years old and not in good health due to being diabetic and other complications.
This is not good news, and despite a bypass surgery his hesrt seems to be functioning badly. This means the life expectancy could possibly be below 5 years. I am unsure how much the upcoming stent is going to change the situation, but as of now things do not seem to be looking too good.
Best wishes.
