Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Is The Life Expectancy Of A Person With Glioblastoma?
I am taking care of my x husband who has been given 6 mo to live. Glioblastoma. What should I expect as far as progressing symptoms and what will the final days be like? He is scheduled for radio therapy next week but they say this will extend his life about 2 to 3 months. A total of six months.
I am sorry for the hard situation your ex-husband is going through. Although we can give a " prediction" of life expectancy, we cannot tell it for sure.
There are several factors including the reaction of the patient to therapies including radiotherapy, his psychological status, other co-morbidities, etc.
So, although the doctors have given a total of six months, that could be shorter or longer depending on the factors indicating above.
What you can do is to ease his sufferings. To collaborate with his caring doctor especially when it comes to giving pain medicines. He needs to feel the warmth of his family at this moment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
