Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Is The Life Expectancy Of A Person With Grade 4 Glioblastoma?
My husband has just had a grade 4 Glioblastoma removed from the rear left quadrant of his brain the size of an egg and the removed the majority of the lobe as there were multiple lesions. We understand there is a average 15 month life span with treatment and 3 months without , but what we cannot seem to find out, and doctors seem to be hesitant to answer, is what his next few months will look like if he chooses to NOT take further treatment. Can you enlighten us.
Your husband having grade 4 glioblastoma tumour of brain which is glial brain tumour and in this case prognosis is very poor. Now after surgical resection, radiotherapy and chemotherapy like by temozolomide will improve survival further. So it is better to start these therapy after surgical resection if your oncosurgeon feels that. Here 1 to 2 year survival seems poor in your case. Consult oncosurgeon for examination and proper management plan and take care.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr Parth Goswami
