What Is The Life Expectancy Of Someone With Lou Gehrig S Disease?
My brother is in his last stages of Lou Garret s I was wondering how long does my brother have before he passes away. He can t eat and he sips ensure but not always successful. Breaks my heart and he doesn t want a feeding tube he has lost alot of weight not able to have any quality of life. My brother is in the Veterans hospital. I cannot begin to tell you I feel so very bad about this whole situation. Is it hereditary we have never ever had this in our family. Thank you so very much for helping me understand this horrible disease.

Although the life expectancy of a person with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) averages about two to five years from the time of diagnosis, this disease is variable, and many people can live with the disease for five years and more. More than half of all people with ALS live more than three years after diagnosis.
