My dad is 82. He had double bypass surgery 12 years ago. One year ago, his heart went into afib and had a pacemaker implanted. One month ago he was sffering symptoms stage 4 congestive heart failure. Since then, he is feeling better (with meds) and is at about stage 3. What is his life expectancy?
The recent studies estimated that the mean life expectancy of a stage 3 heart failure is 5 years. It also can go beyond it with proper treatment and control. Also it varies from other conditions the patient may suffer.
