Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Is The Life Expectancy When Diagnosed With Congestive Heart Failure?
I am a 50 year old man who was just diagnosed with CHF. My infraction is 32 percent via a Mugga.. and a very slight left bundle block. I believe that is right. I had an angio and had 0 percent blockage. My labs came back positive for coxsackie B. I am 5 ft 6 and 258 lbs with high col. I am on a strict diet and doing well and on medication. Questions: 1. Can my heart get stronger? 2. What is my life expectancy at a 32 percent with a commitment to change. I am a Dad with three kids and I want to be here for them. Nobody seems to be able to give me information on the coxsackie b but I am assuming that is what attacked my heart.
CHF patients may live a long life if they control their blood pressure, take salt restricted diet and continue their cardiac medicine with out default. They should be regular with their cardiac check up and sequential echo.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care.
