What Is The Life-expectancy With Continued Treatment For Lupus?

I am a 62 yr old African American male recently diagnosed with lupus. I am a retired nurse of 39 years. I know I will have to deal with this for the remainder of my life. I am 5ft 6in tall. My current weight is 145.8 lbs. (December of 2015 my weight was 115lbs) I have been started on prednisone which was titrated from 60mg orally to my current dosage of 20mg orally daily. I am also receiving IVIG treatment. I have shown considerable improvement since startling the treatments last month. I guess my question is what is my life expectancy with continued treatments. I have no problem with rashes. I do have osteoarthritis and gout. The gout flares up once, maybe 2 times a year. Thank you.

Historically, lupus caused people to die young, primarily from kidney failure. Today, with careful treatment,80 to 90 percentof people with lupus can expect to live a normal lifespan.
So, considering your current health status and improvement it can be said that u can life expectancy is quite good.
