What Is The Little White Ball In Front Of The Skin Connecting To The Upper Lip?
I developed a little white ball right in front of the strip of skin connecting the upper lip to the gums (superior labial frenulum?). It is been here for 3 days now, and it causes pain when i drink water, sometimes all on its own. It looks like a white head.
Please help.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, The little ball like cyst in your mouth near gum can be- - A mucocele-that is trapped mucus in a cyst like thing. When secondarily infected it may cause pain on it's own. - Fungal infection of oral mucus membrane / B complex defesiensy rarely can present this way. * usually it resolves itself within a weeks time. Saline gargles several times a day help. Oral application of Zytee solution /B complex supplements are sometimes needed. Some times mucocele needs surgical/laser intervention for removal. Thanks.
