I will try to address each of your question point wise. 1) Losartan belongs to a family of drugs known as angiotensin receptor blockers (ARB). Along with angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors ARB's are currently the first line drugs for treating hypertension.
2)The starting daily dose for losartan is 25mg which can be increased gradually upto 100mg per day.
3) Yes, there are combination drugs available along with losartan which work synergistically to reduce blood pressure. E.g. thiazide diuretics(hydrochlorthiazide)and calcium channel blockers ( amlodipine).
4)Amlodipine belongs to the class of drugs known as calcium channel blockers ( CCB's ). They are one of the safest and most effective drugs for controlling blood pressure.
Kindly consult your health care provider before starting any medication. None of the above mentioned drugs should be initiated or continued without medical supervision. Hope this answers your queries, Regards,
