Hello and welcome,
Glipizide belongs to sulfonylurea group of antidiabetic medicine. There are 2 forms of the medicine: immediate release and extended release forms. Immidiate release glipizide initial dose is 5 mg a day. The dose can be increased according to the glucose response of the body. Maximal adult dose is 40 mg/day which is divided into several single doses. Maximal single adult dose is 15 mg. Extended release glipizide maximal adult dose is 20 mg/day. Please note, any change in the dosage of the medicine should be done by your doctor.
I hope the above information will be helpful for you. Please, feel free to ask me if there is anything else you need to know.
The treatment of diabetes contains mainly two components 1. Medical therapy either oral medicine or insulin therapy. 2. Lifestyle modification 3. Weight loss exercise 4.Low calories diet. But as i understand, you want to know the maximum dosage of Gliclazide is 320 in divided dosage ( but rarely recommended in its kind of high doge).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Kumar Abhishek
