What Is The Maximum Dosage Of Glipizide That Can Be Taken While On Metformin?
my doctor has had me on metforim 1000mlg twice a day for over a year now and sugars are running around 190 to 320 he gad 5mlg of glipizide twice daily i now get sugar levels at 145 to 255 i want to ask my doctor what is the most glipizide you cantake in one day?

Glipizide belongs to sulfonylurea group of antidiabetic medicine. There are 2 forms of the medicine: immediate release and extended release forms. Immidiate release glipizide initial dose is 5 mg a day. The dose can be increased according to the glucose response of the body. Maximal adult dose is 40 mg/day which is divided into several single doses. Maximal single adult dose is 15 mg. Extended release glipizide maximal adult dose is 20 mg/day.
Please note, any change in the dosage of the medicine should be done by your doctor.

1. Medical therapy either oral medicine or insulin therapy.
2. Lifestyle modification
3. Weight loss exercise
4.Low calories diet.
But as i understand, you want to know the maximum dosage of Gliclazide is 320 in divided dosage ( but rarely recommended in its kind of high doge).
