My father has CGF, and had open heart surgery in October, 2013. He had an aortic valve replacement. He also had a CRT-D implanted a month prior to the OHS. The doctors are saying there is nothing more they can do for him now, and that his death is imminent. He is 80 years old, and smoked for over 60 years (recently quit). His EKG results showed a specific number was 2800 (something to do with pressure). We were told that number should be below 100. He is having severe breathing problems, and has some edema in his ankles. He is down to 148 lbs. What does that number mean on the EKG, as the doctors seem very concerned with such a high number? His heart stopped in November for 17 seconds, and the defib shocked it back to functioning. If this happens again, will he die, then be shocked back, over and over? We don t want to see that happen, or for my mother to witness that painful death for him. Please help!
