Hi, my father-in-law is having ATG treatments and had a bad reaction. His heart was racing and yet his blood pressure was dangerously low. They suspended the ATG treatments until he was stabilized. The heart specialist told him today that he has a Hypokinetic Heart. What does that mean?
Hello. Welcome to HCM. I have read your question and understand your concerns. Hyperkinetic heart means the pumping of heart muscle is affected in some area or overall.
Usually some limited area of heart is usually affected which is usually seen in ischaemic heart disease (blockade somewhere in blood supply of heart). But it can be generalised also.
Confirm whether he has any history of previous heart attack?
Go for trademill stress test or stress echo to get more details regarding blood supply of heart. If needed they will also do coronary angiography to rule out blockage in the coronary arteries (vessels supplying heart).
Usually hypokinesia is irreversible.
Thank you. Have a nice day.
