One week ago I had a pelvic/abdomen CAT scan with something injected in my arm. Now the doctor has ordered a ultrasound on the same area. The doctor order the ultrasound first of all and cancelled it and opted for a CAT scan. Now he wants the ultrasound Why????? Isn t a CAT scan more precise????
Some structural conditions are evaluated by both ultrasound and CT scan. While CT scan gives a lot of information, ultrasound is also used to re assess the problems. This is especially useful in evaluation of conditions like gallbladder stones, kidney stones causing hydronephrosis, blood flow through particular areas. Ultrasound is a real time tool and is helpful.
