What Is The Normal Blood Sugar Level In A Type 2 Diabetic Patient?
Hey there! I am a 61yr old diabetic/type 2 and I am not sure when I check my blood what range I should be looking for?? Of course, some say the lower the better, but is there a specific range I want to keep my glucose level at? Also, if I miss a lunch and take my test before dinner, will the skipped meal affect my sugar level?? Up or down??
You have to check fasting (FBS)and postprandial/after breakfast (PPBS)blood sugar to know the diabetic status.
A sugar value of 110 for fasting and 140 for postprandial are considered normal. A slight increase in blood sugar values can be managed with diet control.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
