My wife has been under Hypertension treatment for the last 10 years. she is 46. her BP continues to be in the range of 160/100. Is this level OK despite being under regular treatment? she is obese. does walk on treadmil on and off. kindly advise...thnx
Hi, the range of 160/100mmHg is not normal and should be brought down to 140/90 atleast at her age. Try and get her into some fun exercises that you both can do together - anything outdoors, a sport or walks, just anything to get her more active in which you both can participate. This will help her get her weight down as well as BP also down. See a Physician to add or change her Hypertension medicines to keep her BP in the range I mentioned above and keep a BP machine at home to keep regular checks. I hope you are controlling her salt intake as this can easily help bring it down a little bit. Take care and feel free to ask any clarifications at the 'Ask a Specialist' icon.
