Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I see people posting levels in the hundreds re their thyroid peroxidase test results, but just what is being mesured? My test said that normal was up to 9 IU/ml and my results were 12.9 IU/ml. My t3 and t4 are in the normal range. Just what does 12.9 IU/ml signify re my thyroid?
Hello welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.
The elevated thyroid peroxide antibody indicates autoimmune thyroid disorder like hashimoto thyroiditis. I need to check your TSH value as well to guide you further. If all thyroid profile including T3, T4 and TSH within range then elevated thyroid perodixadase level can be false result.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
