What Is The Numbness In The Area Below My Ribcage?

Hi. In October I had a spontaneous disinflation of my left lung. I had a tube inserted in my left side. The tube caused considerable pain much lower than its location. The tube was located on my side, and terminated in the top of my chest cavity (to expel the air). But, the pain was at the bottom of my rib cage. Since having my tube removed, I have had no issues with my lung, and the wound has healed on my side. HOWEVER, there has been a persistent numbness in the area below my ribcage. In the last couple of months, I have noticed a swelling below my ribcage. It is slight, but more noticeable than my right side. I know the spleen and pancreas are in the area. What could have caused the pain to radiate downwards during the tube period? Why would the area continue to be numb, 6 months later? What could the swelling be? It seems related. Thank you in advance.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi and thanks for the query,
Numbness would imply a lesion to the nerves. This is generally temporal and when so severe could be irreversible It is imperative to identify the site and cause of nerve defect for early treatment. A complete neurological exam might be needed. Your pulmonologist could seek the opinion of a neurologist. kind regards
