What Is The Other Alternative For Urinary Incontinence Don T Want To Go For Vaginal Mesh Implant?

Hello Dr. Grief. I am 56-years-old and I have urinary incontinence. I am scheduled to see my primary care doctor on May 7, 2014. I believe I am past menopause. Could urinary incontinence be a of aging as well as being past menopause. One of the major symtoms is that when I do vigorous exercise, cough, or laugh I leak urine. I am currently using incontinence pads which I have to change frequently. I was going to see a local gynecologist for this problem; however, when the doctor mentioned the procedure called Vaginal Mesh Implant , I cancelled the appointment. Recently. I have heard in the news that women who have had this Vaginal MESH Implant operation have had serious complications afterward. There is litigation going on with the attorneys of these woman who are suing the manufacturers of the Vaginal Mesh Implants. This procedure is not safe for women on the long run. Can you tell me what is the best alternative or solution for woman s urinary incontinence?

Respected user, hi I evaluated your query thoroughly.
* As an alternative there are Laparoscopic sling repair available without mesh
* But in our long 15 years of practice we recommend certain guidelines to
mild to moderate incontinence patients and they do benefit to a good level
- maintain hygiene of the private parts
- use washroom as & when you feel immediately
- Pelvic floor exercises ( best governed by Physiotherapist ) , deep breathing
exercises with YOGA are the corner stone of the management
- avoid smoking / alcohol
- refrain from weight lifting / heavy workouts
- control cough immediately before worsening
- manage to get soft stools as hard stools worsen the issue
- maintain hydration to prevent urinary infection
- local estradiol creams help in some cases
- consult doctor immediately when more incontinence , signs of infection as
fever, burning urine or other
Hope this helps you
