Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Is The Pain When I Kneel Down With Chondromalacia?
I hurt my knees (on a three-hour climb down a steep mountain) about ten years ago. I was diagnosed with chondromalacia and was in pain for a month or more. The pain is gone now, unless I try to kneel for more than a few minutes at a time. Then it begins to hurt and I have to sit down. Is there any exercise or treatment that would allow me to kneel again with getting pain after a few minutes? Thank you.

Hello, Thanks for your query.
Chondromalacia patellae, which causes pain in your knee when you try to climb the stairs or kneel on your knee for prolong time. Generally physiotherapy for your quadriceps muscle with straight leg raising and knee mobilisation will improve your muscle strength and will decrease the progression of arthritis. Life style modifications like avoiding stairs, squatting, sitting cross legged & cycling will also help in reducing your symptoms. Reducing weight is of prime importance if you are overweight. If the pain is severe, you can take few doses of NSAID's or physiotherapic modalities like IFT to relieve your pain. I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
