What Is The Presence Of A Black Mass Found In MRI Suggestive Of?

yesterday I took my third MRI with contrast and my nerolgist called me back and told me that they found a black mass, it shouldn t cause me problems so no needed surgery.. but what is a black mass and it does cause me problems everyday. what is this help me

Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, the blackening can be due to old infarct or bleed but depends on type of MRI films. If neurologist in thinking to refer it to a neurosurgeon to plan a biopsy, if any mass or space occupying lesion is suspected, it's better to proceed with the plan. Other possibilities like abscess should also be ruled out. Most likely solution if mass is suspected, and is causing significant neurological deficits, may need surgical treatment with excision of mass.
