What Is The Prognosis For An Alcohol Addict With Pancreatitis?
My 22 year old son is an alcoholic. He drinks until he is drunk every day. He suffers from Pancreatitis. He has been admitted to the hospital 11 times since December 11. 2014 for pancreatitis or complications from Pancreatitis. He has been near death many times. He does not think he needs help. He is going to die or kill someone else. Our family is miserable. If he will not get treatment on his own, can we legally have him committed? What are the best steps to take?
You can legally have him committed against his will of course, but you will need a doctor to help you with this, because no one else can; an addiction centre specialises in such practices and who knows, if all of you are successful, we may be able to add a few years to his life.
As for the best steps right now, his pancreas are most probably in a horrible state and will most probably lead to his demise (sadly), but all we can do at this point is to get him admitted, it will be an extremely difficult and painful process, not just for his entire family, but for him as well.
Best wishes.
