What Is The Prognosis For Cirrhosis Of Liver?

My husband has cirrhosis, end stage. He sleeps in excess of 16/hrs per day, ascites, confusion, decreased appetite. I can't get a clear answer from his Doctors on how much APPX time we have left. I know you cannot say definitely, but I am so lost. Can you give me any idea at all? Thank you!!

He is in endstage liver disease. Usually in this case only supportive management can be done. Tapping of ascites fluid, prophylactic antibiotics to prevent peritonitis (infection of ascites fluid), laxatives to prevent encephalopathy and altered behaviour), electrolyte correction and so on. His long time sleepiness is also a part of grade 1 encephalopathy. We cant predict his days exactly. I can understand it ll be difficult for u. But there wont be long time since he started developing signs of liver failure. Just be with him and give your care and support as much as u can.
