What Is The Prognosis For The Small Foetus In Large Sac 4.8 By 4.2 And CRL Measuring 0.5cms?
I m pregnant (about 7weeks) and experienced pinkish brown discharge about 2 weeks back. The doc put me on IVF c 5000 per week for 2weeks and diagnosed the situation as threatened early miscarriage. I had an Ultrasound on Thursday at Gestational age 7+3weeks which revealed a large gestational sac with a small foetus. They could not hear the heartbeat so we went for transvaginal U/S where they heard the heartbeat. The doctor seemed to be very concerned about large sac 4.8 by 4.2 and small foetus (6weeks according to U/S) with CRL measuring 0.5cms. They ve called me in for another U/S next week. Does this indicate something serious like an abnormality or miscarriage? Very worried. I m 33, 5ft 3, 60 kg. Have one child 4and half. Experienced threatened miscarriage with him too starting at about 4and a half months. No reason could be diagnosed except the presence of streptococcus B in my urine and vaginal swab tests. Was advised rest and was hospitalized for my first one. Had a healthy baby boy.
It is an issue of concern no doubt. It seems the growth of the baby is affected. At this stage the growth affection could be because of the bleeding you had at 5 weeks. This bleeding could have affected the chorionic tissue supplying the baby. Follow up ultrasonography will make the picture more clear. Till then you have to keep the fingers crossed. Please consume sufficient folic acid with the advice of your Obstetrician. It will help growth of the baby as well as chorionic (Placental) tissue. Wish you all the best. For any further consultation, you may ask me the question directly.
