What Is The Purpose Of Anomaly Scan?

Hi Doctor..My wife is pregnant .. and the duration is 22 weeks I already taken one 5th month scan but my doctor is asking one more scan called Anomaly scan so is that advisable to take another scan and what is the advantage of the Anomaly scan... please reply...

1.5th month scan itself should be an anomaly scan, may the the request for scan was not mentioned clearly.
2.Yes its very much required any pregnant women to get the anomaly scan done.
3.It is the best time doctor can see each and every part of the body for presence of any anomaly ( abnormal findings in the organs and systems), after and before this possibility are less.
4.And scan at this time will give you the fetal EDD - estimated date of labour ( which is more accurate than any other scan gives)
5.Yes i advise you to take the scan, don't worry ultrasound has no side effects documented yet. Good luck.
