What Is The Purpose Of Duphaston Tablet Because I Don't Have Any Problem In Pregnancy?

Hi doctor,
I am now 5 week 4 day in pregnancy with normal health and no record of miscarriage or bleeding. But the doctor still gave me Duphaston 10mg and advised me to take twice a day in 10 days. I have been taking it for 1 and a half day, but I am so confused and worried because I still dont understand the reason why I have to take it. Can I stop taking it now, and if I suddenly stop taking it, does it affect my baby? Thank you so much!

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
Duphaston is given in early pregnancy for good endometrial growth and a placental support. It helps in preventing early pregnancy miscarriages. It is not required if the progesterone levels are normal.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
