Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I get opoid pain medication from my primary care doctor but have also seen a pain management doctor in the past. I have signed an agreement about my med use as well. All my test show rapid destruction of spine and all agree I need the drugs. Today I was drug tested when I went to pick up my oxy RX. Since I couldn t produce urine they stuck a cotton stick under my tongue for five minutes. I have several autoimmune diseases as well and have dry mouth often. What are they looking for with this test? What could go wrong?. I am getting annoyed at being painted a bad guy because of this medication use. I suffered so much for years with no relief. I feel as if I am being victimized by all this.
I am sorry that you are feeling this way and hope that there is a change. With a history of severe pain, effective medication would obviously be needed.
There are oral tests that can screen for opioid use. They may be checking for the presence of other opioids, it would be difficult to without knowing the exact test. If the results cause any issues, you can speak to your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
