i coughed up clotted blood like one spoon i dont know where the blood is comming from the bleeding lasts few minutes and its gone after that thers no cough at all no irritation no deffecult in breathing but at anytime bleeding can start?
Coughing out a blood clot may mean bleeding either in nose/ sinuses or from the lung/ airways. Vigorous cough bout can lead to fresh bleeding but that does not seem to be your case.
Get your Chest X-ray done and get yourself examined by a doctor. If the cause is not treated, it may bleed again.
Hi!
welcome to healthcaremagic.com.An essential part of diagnosing hemoptysis is ruling out hematemesis (vomiting of blood) and other forms of pseudohemoptysis (blood in the sputum that originates outside of the respiratory tract). Blood can originate in the back of the mouth (an area known as the oropharynx) or in the gastrointestinal tract.
After confirmation of hemoptysis, diagnosis involves differentiating among the possible causes of the bleeding, from lung cancer to bronchitis. The diagnosis involves a detailed medical history, laboratory tests, and a chest x-ray. It may also involve a bronchoscopy or CT scan, depending on the nature of the hemoptysis and likelihood of cancer. If the underlying cause may be related to a vascular disorder (a blood vessel disorder), a pulmonary angiography may be done.Take care.
