What Is The Reason For Continuous Sore Throat?

I have had a sore throat for 2 weeks now and the pain is not subsiding. I have pain in the back of my throat and tongue that switches sides of my mouth periodically. The other day I felt like there was a lump in my throat when I was trying to smile. I do have a cough, I so have a sneeze and I was experiencing headaches. I went to the doctor and was strep tested and results were negative and I was diagnosed with viral and bacterial pharyngitis with nothing to help cure it. What is wrong with me ?

Hello
Thank You for contacting HCM.

Viral infection takes time to resolve itself after completing the cycle. Antibiotics do not work. I would suggest you following things:
> Take Diphenhydramine + Dextromethorphan for cough.
> Take acetaminophen for pain/fever (if occurs).
> Take hot water in a cup, add 1 table spoon salt in it. Perform gargles (mouth wash) with it three times a day for at least 3 days. It will give soothing effect.
> Take boiling water in a pot, put your head over the steam and cover whole with a sheet. Take deep breaths in it.(Avoid getting closer else it might cause burn). Do this twice a day.

AVOID:
> Chilled water
> Drinks
> Spicy food
