What Is The Reason For Getting Pain In The Lower Abdomen And The Leg After Intercourse?
Hi, I am 26 and I'm trying to conceive for the past 3 months but no luck.I have regular 28 day cycle and the menstrual period last for about 2-3 days. I had given my pap test and it was normal. During recent times I get pain in my left lower abdomen and the leg after intercourse. Is there anything to worry about
Hi. I've gone through your query and I can understand your anxiety.
Pain during & after intercourse usually results from uterine contractions. Factors which triggers such contractions could be - Hormone prostaglandins present in semen - mechanical stimulation of the cervix and lower portion of the uterus - Any pelvic floor muscle spasm - Also uterine fibroids or endometriosis (where radiation to back, legs is commonly seen)
I advice you to, - Try sex- position that causes less spasms - Analgesics - Lubricants - Consult a gynaecologist to do investigations to rule out fibroids, endometriosis etc - Also exercises to relax pelvic muscles.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care.
Regards, Dr. Yogapriya V, General and family physician.
