What Is The Reason For Leakage From My Rectum After Having Undergone Two Colostomy Surgeries?

I have two colostomies. Today I noticed that I was leaking from my rectum. I had 5 inches of colon removed near there and then the colon was sealed off near the rectum. Is the leaking normal It has been about 5 weeks since my surgery. Thanks you for your help.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The leaking from the rectum is normal due to gut hormone-mediated secretions rather than any abnormal pathology.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
