What Is The Reason For Missed Periods For About Three Months?
Hey, ever since I was sixteen I’ve been missing periods. At first it would just be every other month, then I started missing two months in a row and one time I even missed three months! I know it’s normal for teens to be irregular but I’m almost Twenty now and I’m starting to worry! I have now missed the past three months again and my friend is convinced I’m pregnant but I don’t want to take a test when I’m pretty sure it’s just the same thing as before, what do you think?
There are different causes for delayed periods. If you are sexually active, it would be important to rule out pregnancy first.
The other causes are: (a) PCOS- this stands for polycystic ovarian syndrome. This condition is diagnosed if a women has at least 2 of the following criteria, (1) irregular or delayed periods (2) cysts on the ovaries identified on ultrasound (3) signs or symptoms of increased levels of male hormones
If your pregnancy test is negative , then you should consider visiting your doctor for an evaluation which would include physical examination and investigations for the above hormone levels.
I hope this helps
