my father is 63 years old. he is suffering from 102-104 degree farenhite fever since last 5 days. dont know what to do. plz help. he is diabetic as well as heart patient...
hello
welcome to HCM
fever is not s disease it is a symptom so only with fever we can not say anything what happend with your father.you should go for certain investigation
it is better to visit any doctor and follow his priscription
thanks
1.high fever: is with chills or rigor
2.fever is continous or intermittent
3.any associated urinary symptoms
4.any h/o travelling to other country/state
5.as he is diabetic and heart patient:so fever will act as a stress which will increase his blood sugar level as well as increase the metabolic rate which will cause the heart to work fast..so take him to your doctor and reduce the temperature
fever from past five days..u need to get all blood tests like TLC DLC ESR COMPLETE URINE.if it is associated vid chills n rigor get malaria n platelets count done if thr r bleeding tendences..get widal also if abdominal symptms thr...it can b simple viral fevr bt dont ignore get tests done to treat fevr early....meantym take paracetamol 500 thrice a day...take care n visit a doc to get tests done
HI!!!Since your father is in the age where he is susceptable to any kind of infection like dengue,malaria,typhoid...it very important that u do some blood tests for the same.Dengue serology should be done especially on the 7the day of fever..similarly, test for typhoid fever should be done after the 10th day of fever.....else inspite of having the symptoms...the test will come negative!!!!

He needs to get evaluated immediately.High temperature denotes severe fever which could be due to viral illness , Respiratory tract infection , malaria or typhoid or Urinary tract infection.Physicial examination can narrow down the diagnosis to any of the above. He need blood tests to rule out malaria and typhoid. I advise you to visit your Physician and get the above tests done as early as possible. If you need any further help , feel free to ask me.
Take care
