What Is The Reason For Redness In Chest, Face, Swelling In Eyes After Trying Vodka?
I have what seems to be an increasing reaction to vodka, I went to a chocolate tasting and there they had vodka, I tried less than a teaspoon full and instantly my chest got red, face got red, and after about 10 min my eyes started to swell. I have had the redness when drinking just a sip of vodka before but the swelling of the eyes was new. Should I be careful of other food items besides vodka? Of course I am not going to drink vodka anymore. I was just wondering what in vodka would cause this reaction?
Dear Friend. Hi , I am Dr Anshul Varshney , I have read your query in detail , I understand your concern. You are allergic to vodka. That's the only reason. Any person can be allergic to anything. If you are allergic to vodka , you can also be allergic to whisky , beer , gin or any alcoholic beverage. I am glad you decided not to take it in future. This can be life threatening sometimes , closing your epiglottis and causing breathing or respiratory arrest. Just don't consume any alcoholic beverage in future. This is my personal opinion based on details available here. If you want to discuss your issues further, you may please ask us Stay Healthy. Dr Anshul Varshney , MD
