Hi,
Normally period starts after the natural production of hormone progesterone stops. Starting of bleeding is after 2-3 days of weaning off from three hormone. So, if postponement of bleeding is desired, mostly the Primolut-N (progesterone type pills) are taken in double dose three days prior to expected day of period. Mostly you had started the dose late..by the time natural progesterone was already out of cycle, so menstruation started. This can not be totally stopped by artificial hormone intake.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
