My mom 87 yrs is post op for a colon resection - her right colon was removed along with a grapefruit size tumor (benign) on July 21st. Her bowels began working on July 27th - no blood, no pain, no swelling. Her surgery was laproscopic then a 3 - 4 in incision was made to remove the colon and tumor on her right side. She is eating normally and has not has any difficulty so far. this morning she woke up with a reddish brown substance in her mouth she told me this has happened a couple of days - should we return to the ER - she is 4ft 11in and weighs 157 lbs
Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, looking to the age and the clinical condition given here I could say that it may not be anything related with the disease but it could be some nonspecific or it could be some food particles that must have been retained by her it can not be pathological changed unless it is being diagnosed or confirmed clinically, I would suggest to see the doctor for confirmation hope this information helps.
