What Is The Reason For Unexplained Swelling And Tenderness On The Back Of The Head?
hit my head, apparently, do not remember hitting my head. very swollen and tender, with soft mushy middle on back upper left of my head. that was 3 weeks ago. swelling has gone down, but still have 2 very tender areas and headaches on that side. should i be concerned?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Head trauma is the commonest cause of swelling and tenderness in the head. However, there is no history of trauma to head. This implies that swelling and tenderness in the head are spontaneous. Persistence of tenderness and headache needs to be investigated. You need to consult a neurologist or if unavailable a physician for clinical assessment. A CT scan of the head may be required because a history of swelling was present. There are various causes of headaches- e.g. migraine, cluster headache, headache caused by vasculitis, etc.
A clinical assessment and relevant investigations will only help to know the cause of the symptoms and hence treatment.
