What Is The Reason Of Having Small Pea Sized Growth On Back Of Scalp Which Is Painful And Increasing In Size?
I had a small pea-size growth on the back of my scalp about 1 inch from my right ear. Now it is the size of a large marble and is hard but I can move it around. It is painful at times and I can't sleep on that side because the pressure hurts. What is this and who would I see about it?
I can understand your concern for the having small pea sized growth on back of scalp which is painful and increasing in size.
It appears form your query that you have developed folliculitis or ingrown hair with seondary infection in the area with inflammation at the affected region. This area is quite common to get infected very easily because of sweating and high bacterial proliferation.
For time being period you can apply antibiotic cream such as fucidin or mupirocin and take pain killer tablets such diclofenac or paracetamol.
Do not try to even touch or pinch the area as can cause more aggravation of the problem and spread of the infection.
If it is increasing despite the treatment then meet a dermatologist or any family physician and get a proper treatment without delay for the oral antibiotic such as ciprofloxacin or cefadroxyl 500 mg two times a day for 5 days to prevent secondary infection.
Take care.
