What Is The Recovery Period Post Clavicle Repair Surgery?

My husband had a clavicle surgery repair done 8 weeks ago with a plate and 7 pins. He tells me that his doctor cleared him for mountain biking and cyclocross racing (where you carry your bike over obstacles and race around on a modified road bike on a hilly race course) but that he just had to be careful. He started mountain biking last week and is racing this coming Sunday. I find that hard to believe.Are there exceptions to the rules? It was healing nicely at his 6 week checkup.What are his risks?
