Hello,
I understand your concern for your symptoms and urge to take second opinion
1) Although I have not enough experience of 10 years as compared to primary surgeon to whom you consulted but I feel confident enough to provide guidance on this.
2) You should go ahead with surgery in spite of seeking another investigation.
3) Your symptoms are due to
acid reflux and this reflux is due to
hiatus hernia which was confirmed previously.
4) Treatment/surgery for hiatus hernia is not depend on severity or extent of hernia. Thus once confirmed, it is not necessary to undergo another test to evaluate extent or severity of hernia.
5) Persistence of symptoms in spite of medications, itself is an indication to undergo surgery.
6) Surgery will be laparoscopic and it is completely safe in term of complication and success.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any further doubts, I would be happy to help you.
Have a good day!
