Hi there im a 23 year and i have PCOS and have and IUD (since jan 2009) and am on Ginet 84 (since jan 2011). Recently i have had my period for longer than two weeks and it had been rather heavy. I went to my GP as i was concerned and she did a smear which came back normal, but then a few days later she rang me in concern that i had a bacterial infection probably related to the IUD, and i am now on Metronidazole. My questions to you are, If i am on the Ginet 84 this should be enough to regulate my peroid and not need the IUD. Is the IUD necessary? I am worried about the IUD causing more problems and having these long heavy periods. What is teh best thing to do?? Thanks
