What Is The Remedy For The Soreness In Vagina And Redness In Uvula?

I hadn’t had sex in a month or two, and had a date 2 days ago. I shaved my pubic area, and we ended up having a lot of sex in one night. I was sore, but not unsurprised as I hadn’t had sex recently and it had been fairly rough. However, my vagina got sorer as the day after progressed and whilst the pain has almost completely subsided now, my vulva is red and swollen and I have broken out in a red rash on my thighs and near my bottom (however, it is summer so it could be a razor rash from sweat, or a heat rash of some kind. I was on two courses of antibiotics in recent weeks and am entertaining the possibility of it being a yeast infection, but haven’t had the itching or discharge I normally get with it.

Hi,

Sexual intercourse can cause swelling of labia and vagina since they are very soft tissue. Swelling and bruise may take a few days to reduce. It is essential to avoid any physical contact until the wound subsides. Insufficient lubrication and increased friction can also cause increased soreness.

Ice pack covered with a cotton cloth can reduce labial swelling and bruise. Antibiotics can be continued for five more days in order to prevent infections. Antibiotic cream can also be applied at the the areas.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
