What Is The Remedy For Weightloss In An Infant Due To Lower Appetite Caused By Severe Cold?

hi doctore,
our son was born 36 week with 1.7kg, he was making a good progress at 3.5 months he was 4.6kg than he had a bad cold and in 5weeks since he last was weighted he only had 4.7kg now 2 weeks after the cold is gone does not seem to put any weight at all, and he is also getting very fussy about eating, tried to change milk nothing still fussy, even thinking of solid foods we are worried and running out of ideas what could it be, he is a very happy smiley baby, sleeps very well through the night 7-8hours, but he only takes about 550-600ml formula milk in 24hour, is that enough??? what should we do???

Hi

At 36 weeks 1.7 kg means he was SGA baby.

He should start catching up now.

Do not worry.

Try to increase the calories and protein intake with pulses, oil, dairy products etc.

You can take the advice from the same doctor regarding additional supplements.

Good luck
