What Is The Risk Of Contracting STI By Swallowing Semen?

I just performed oral sex and swallowed the semen...a couple of minutes later I felt like something was stuck in my chest and had a really terrible cough...What happens to semen that goes down the wrong pipe? I am at a higher risk for STIs because of it/because I have irritated my chest by coughing?

thank you for query.if semen is ingested the chances of STIs are very very rare and usually this is not common mode of transmission. But if there are abrasions or ulcers in the oral cavity there are chances of transmission if from infected person. If it goes to the respiratory tract it will be coughed out usually and thrown out or you will swallow back to stomach.so need not worry of such routes of transmission and you can allay fears.Dr Bharatesh D Basti
