What Is The Safest Antibiotic To Give For Strep Throat?
I think my 17 year old son has strep throat (white pustules in the back of his throat). Here is my main concern: what is the SAFEST antibiotic to take and can we take a lower dose than normally prescribed. His throat is not red or inflamed. The pustules however are very evident in good lighting (I looked last night and couldn t see any but this afternoon they were very obvious. He has a 103 temp, headache, upset stomach. My concern is that when I take him to Urgent Care they will no doubt prescribe antibiotics. I think he has had penicillin and no adverse affects . . .
Hi. He according to your history and finding he has acute follicular tonsillitis. There is nothing to worry. If i was his treating doctor i would suggest oral amoxacillin+clavelonate, anti allergic and paracetamol for a week. These are safe drugs but should not be used unless prescribed by your doctor, as wrong or anapropriate dose will not be helpfull. Visit your doctor to give him these drug after proper assessment. Wish him good health. Thanks
