Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a uteter stent since May 28, 2015. My urologist said the stent would remain for a year without being replaced unless I am in pain. I am concerned because I read that stents should be replaced every 6 months. I don t know whether I should seek another opinion.
dear friend you are correct in your presumption that the stents should be removed and its usually 3 months , how ever please do consult your urologist regarding the need of letting the stent remain there for so long, to my information there should be no such need, however there are newer stent tech being developed like self dissolving stents in absence of the knowledge of what stent has been put and for what reason it needs to stay there so long, it can be analysed only after some more information on the stent and the condition.
